How do I get my Licence?

You need to pass both a theory and a practical driving test before you can obtain your full UK driving licence.

The theory test has to be taken and passed before you can apply to take the practical test.

Before you take the theory test you will need to know and understand a wide range
of driving topics.

It is very important to spend some time studying a range of books, which we will tell you about in the theory test information section. We at All Class Driving Academy don’t just want you to pass the test, but give you the relevant information and knowledge needed to become a safe, confident and competent driver for life.

Provisional Licence

You must have a provisional licence before you can drive on the public highway.
Go to your local post office and ask for/or collect forms (D1) which is an application form for a driving licence, also form (D750) photo-card licence application form also available from the post office, these are often given out in one envelope, however, make sure they are both inside before you leave.
You will also need a passport size photograph in colour, it must be a true likeness, showing the whole face, with no hats, sunglasses or helmets, also remove scarves from the mouth area if worn.

Please take your picture against a light background and the back of the photo must be signed by someone who has known you for at least two years e.g. Doctor, teacher, bank officer, clergy.

You will need some other identification such as a birth/marriage certificate or passport (photocopies are not acceptable).

The forms to fill will be easy to understand and there are guidance notes to accompany them.

When you have completed the forms and have got your colour photos signed, post them together with your identification documents with a cheque or postal order for the correct amount to the address given on the form.

It is advisable to send your documents by recorded or guaranteed delivery.
